Asperger Syndrome

Welcome

These pages are for people with Asperger syndrome (or people who suspect that they have it), for their carers, and for professionals.

If you are a counsellor you might want to have a look at our sister page, The Asperger Counselling Network. The National Autistic Society will be taking over the management of this page in the near future.

ASHTA

If you wonder whether or not you might have Asperger syndrome, we maintain the Asperger Syndrome Helpsite for Teenagers and Adults, which may be of interest. This contains a link to a self-assessment questionnaire.

The pages of Dilemma Consultancy Ltd include information about our medicolegal and assessment services. Information about NHS assessments can be found at the website of Sheffield Care Trust.

Our Research

Recent lectures that Dilemma staff have given can be found on the Lectures page, and copies of articles in the public domain on the Articles page, including a recent article by Digby Tantam on Asperger syndrome in adulthood, published in the Psychiatric Clinics of North America. The full text of a recent book published by the World Psychiatric Association on 'Autism and Related Disorders' can be found on the Books page as well as links to other books.

Our recent research in Asperger syndrome includes a survey of adolescents and adults in Sheffield with this disorder, and an evaluation of a new counselling intervention for young people newly diagnosed with the disorder (the Insight project). This is funded by a grant from Sheffield City Council to the Sheffield Asperger Parents Action Group.

We provide occasional training events in Asperger syndrome. If you are interested, in being placed on the mailing list, please email the administrator at Dilemma Consultancy Ltd.
